Florianópolis Island is located in the South of
Brazil and is considered one of the most beautiful touristic
points of South America, being a “must” for all
sports and nature lovers of all World. The island magical athmosphere
has early awakened the interest of the Inca civilization who
was seeking the promised “Evil-free Land”. Still
nowadays, we find in its inhabitants a very warm, peaceful
and friendly people. Plus, the natural beauties of the island
take the visitors’ breath away. Laid down on the Atlantic
Ocean shore, Praia Mole beach is defined,in surfing jargon,
as a beach break, with both lefts and rights varying from 2
to 9 feet high. It is located in an environmental reserve mainly
composed by a magnificent sample of rain forest. Very near
the area destinated to the championship, visitors will find
at least 10 surfing spots which break regularly in different
conditions.
In this part of the country, the temperature variances are
big due to the storms brought by the continental southern winds,
however the predominant weather during the month the championship
is going to be held is driven by warm currents coming from
North. In November, we expect very nice weather (aprox 26º C).
Still, it is always recomendable, just to be “on the
safe side”, bringing short weatsuits for surfing.Regardless
the time of the year, we can definetely say that the night
life in Floripa ( as locals call it ) is always hot. Having
a good time and making new friends is a guarantee in the islands
pubs, bars and discos.
